NAMED FOR REVEREND ATILIANO COCO
During the
ministry of Don Carlos, one of the youngest elected bishops
in the Anglicano Communion, he fund-raised and built the
student center in Salamnaca. which was named for Reverend Atialano Coco, a priest marytred in Salamanca at the time
of the Civil War. He was
young successful Spanish priest who had, among other things, befriended the
well-known Spanish writer, Miguel de Unamuno. Unamuno would also died under house
arrest. Today the center is
a source of great activity for our church. Students studying in Salamanca
regularly stay in the center and have the opportunity to attend services in the
chapel on site. Meetings
for the diocese are held there and recently a youth camp was established there
to continue every summer.
